Bishop Henry M. Washington, Ph.D., AMDA "Coach"
Executive Director and Chief Advocate
Bishop Henry M. Washington, Ph.D., is fondly known to most as "Coach". He has been the Executive Director and Chief Advocate of the Office of the Ecclesiastical Council since 1993, representing more than 2,618 churches, fellowships and ministries in the United States, Canada and Germany. He also serves as Advisor to the CME, AME, Full Gospel, Churches of God in Christ ministries, and a host of non-denominational ministries. Bishop Washington is also the Advisor to the presiding Bishop of the Fellowship of Independent and Global Churches and Ministries, Inc., and is the Financial Advisor to the organization.
He was ordained in December of 1977 and served as Associate Pastor and Executive Assistant to four Regional Bishops for a period of six years before being assigned to Canada. In 1995, he was appointed to the position of Auxiliary Bishop and Ecclesiastic Counsel for Canadian Five Fold Christian Ministries, and in 1997 was consecrated Bishop and Counsel for the U.S. District.
"Coach" is no stranger to the business community. In 1998, he was appointed by the White House (Vice President Al Gore) to develop and head up the Minority Business Opportunity Committee (MBOC), U.S. Commerce Department in the Detroit Empowerment Zone. In this position, he secured $174 million in business opportunities for minority and women-owned firms in the first year of operation and $223 million the following year. He is an Advisor to several major corporations and is a frequent visitor to various government agencies and non-profit organizations in Washington, DC.
"Coach" is a certified counselor and consults with medical professionals, psychologists and health consultants. He has touched the lives of hundreds of individuals, as attested to by those who have participated in his Masters' Christian Ethics Classes where he serves as facilitator and workshop leader. He gives a clear understanding of who we are and how our love of the God-self, as taught by Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, enhances our spiritual growth and self-empowerment. He is also a member of the Pastoral Psychology Counselors' Association, the American Association of Christian Counselors, the Association of the United States Army and Chairman of the Mentor-Protégé Coalition. Bishop Washington has a Bachelor's degree in Management; a Master's degree in Church Administration and Theology; a Doctorate degree in Organizational Development Counseling. He is also a Canon Law Associate and a registered member of the Canon Law Society of America, Washington, DC.
